Privacy Policy

The Entered ("we", "us") is a premium, application-only dating and networking platform for Africans at home and in the diaspora. This policy explains what information we collect on this landing page, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it. This policy covers the waitlist application form on this site. Our main product is not yet live; when it launches, a separate product privacy policy will apply.

1. Information we collect

When you apply to the waitlist, we collect:

• Your full name.
• Your email address.
• Your profession (from a fixed list).
• Your social handles — Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn. These are optional.
• Your short written answer describing why you should be considered (up to 200 characters).
• The name of the existing member who referred you, if any. Optional.
• Technical data captured by our hosting provider (Netlify), such as your IP address and user agent, used only to process the submission and detect abuse.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies on this site.

2. Why we collect it

The information is used only to review your application, to contact you if you are selected, and to prevent spam or abuse of the form. We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing. We will not add you to any mailing list without a separate, explicit opt-in at the time you receive an offer.

3. Where it is stored

Submissions are stored by our hosting provider, Netlify, Inc. (United States), through their Netlify Forms service. A small counter of total applications and your assigned waitlist position are stored in Netlify's key-value storage (Netlify Blobs). Access is limited to authorised members of the team who operate this site. The connection between your browser and this site is encrypted with HTTPS.

4. How long we keep it

We keep applications for up to 24 months from the date of submission or until our founding cohort is closed, whichever is later. Applications that are not selected are deleted at the end of that period. You can ask us to delete your application earlier at any time (see "Your rights" below).

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as Nigeria's NDPA, South Africa's POPIA, Kenya's DPA, or the EU's GDPR. These typically include:

• The right to access the information we hold about you.
• The right to correct it.
• The right to have it deleted.
• The right to withdraw your consent at any time.
• The right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@thentered.com from the email address you used on your application. We respond within 30 days.

6. Security

We use HTTPS throughout, strict security response headers, a Content Security Policy, honeypot and CAPTCHA spam protection, and we restrict who on our team can read submissions. Despite our controls, no online service can be perfectly secure. Please share only information you are comfortable sharing.

7. Children

The Entered is an adults-only dating and networking platform. You must be 18 or older to apply. Do not submit an application on behalf of anyone under 18.

8. Changes

If we materially change how we handle waitlist data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes we will also email applicants we still hold data for.
